Spring Break and Spring Assessment Schedule


Spring Break & Spring Assessment Message to Families


Spring Break Information

Due to snow make-up days, all K-12 students, both virtual and in-person, will have school on Wednesday March 31 and Thursday April 1. Spring Break, in turn, will be Friday April 2 through Monday April 5. Students will then return to school, in-person or virtual, on Tuesday April 6.


K-4 Spring Assessments

PSSA Testing for English Language Arts, Math, and Science will occur for all in-person and virtual Jacksonwald, Lorane, and Owatin Creek students according to the schedule below.

  • Grades 3-4 ELA PSSA = April 19-21
  • Grades 3-4 Math PSSA = April 26-27
  • Grade 4 Science PSSA = April 28-29

Testing will begin at 9:15am and will end around 11:15am on all dates listed above. However, as with past years, students will have as long as they need to complete the PSSA assessments. Virtual students will need to be transported to and from school on the testing days by a parent, friend, or family member and should not arrive before 9:00am to give our buses adequate time to drop off in-person students. If you cannot provide transportation, please contact your child’s school counselor or principal. As we get closer to the assessment dates, more information will come directly from your child’s building principal and/or school counselor(s) regarding PSSA testing logistics.


Grades 5-6 Spring Assessments

PSSA Testing for English Language Arts and Math will occur for all in-person and virtual Reiffton students according to the schedule below.

  • Grades 5-6 ELA PSSA = April 19-21
  • Grades 5-6 Math PSSA = April 26-27

Testing will begin at 8:30am and will end around 10:30am on all dates listed above. However, as with past years, students will have as long as they need to complete the PSSA assessments. Virtual students will need to be transported to and from school on the testing days by a parent, friend, or family member and should not arrive before 8:15am in order to give our buses adequate time to drop off in-person students. If you cannot provide transportation, please contact your child’s school counselor or principal. As we get closer to the assessment dates, more information will come directly from your child’s building principal and/or school counselor(s) regarding PSSA testing logistics.


Grades 7-8 Spring Assessments

PSSA Testing for English Language Arts, Math, and Science will occur for all in-person and virtual Junior High School students according to the schedule below.

  • Grades 7-8 ELA PSSA = April 20-22
  • Grades 7-8 Math PSSA = April 27-28
  • Grade 8 Science PSSA = May 4 & May 6

Testing will begin at 8:00am and will end around 10:00am on all dates listed above. However, as with past years, students will have as long as they need to complete the PSSA assessments. Virtual students will need to be transported to and from school on the testing days by a parent, friend, or family member and should not arrive before 7:40am in order to give our buses adequate time to drop off in-person students. If you cannot provide transportation, please contact your child’s school counselor or principal. As we get closer to the assessment dates, more information will come directly from your child’s building principal and/or school counselor(s) regarding PSSA testing logistics.


Keystone Algebra I Exam Testing will occur for all in-person and virtual Junior High School students enrolled in Algebra I according to the schedule below.

  • Keystone Algebra I Exam = May 18-19

Testing will begin at 8:00am and will end around 10:00am on both dates listed above. However, as with past years, students will have as long as they need to complete the Keystone Algebra I Exam. Virtual students will need to be transported to and from school on the testing days by a parent, friend, or family member. If you cannot provide transportation, please contact your child’s school counselor or principal. As we get closer to the assessment dates, more information will come directly from your child’s building principal and/or school counselor(s) regarding Keystone Algebra I Exam logistics.


Senior High School Spring Keystone Exams

Keystone Exam Testing will occur for all in-person and virtual Senior High School students enrolled in Algebra I, English 10, and Biology according to the schedule below.

  • Keystone Algebra I Exam = May 18 - 19
  • Keystone Literature Exam = May 18 - 19
  • Keystone Biology Exam = May 20 - 21

The Senior High School will be running a three-hour delay schedule in the morning on May 18-19 for the Algebra I and Literature Keystone Exams. As such, testing will begin at 7:40am and will end around 10:40am. The Biology Keystone Exam will be given in the morning and the afternoon on May 20-21. The morning test administration will have a start time of 7:40am and will conclude around 10:40am. The afternoon test administration will have a start time of 12:00 noon and will conclude around 2:20pm. However, as with past years, students will have as long as they need to complete whatever Keystone Exam(s) they are taking. Virtual students will need to be transported to and from school on the testing days by a parent, friend, or family member. If you cannot provide transportation, please contact your child’s school counselor or principal. As we get closer to the assessment dates, more information will come directly from your building administration and/or the school counselor(s) regarding Keystone Exam logistics.


As always, the District appreciates your flexibility as we strive to make state-required assessments as smooth of a process as we can in what has been a challenging 20-21 school year.
