Return to full in-person instruction and virtual learning options

ETSD Superintendent Pandemic Update Feb 23 2021

***Update*** The plan to return to full time in-person learning on March 15th was approved during the March 2nd Special Voting meeting of the School Board

Exeter Township Community,

Please view the below video from Dr. Kimberly Minor detailing the recommendation to return to full in-person instruction on March 15th.

There has been a dramatic drop in new COVID-19 cases in Berks County and throughout Pennsylvania over the past several weeks.  Considering this, and with increasing numbers of individuals being vaccinated, the Exeter Township Pandemic Task-Force met last week to consider a change to our instructional model for the remainder of the school year.

Following the data review by the Task-Force, the ETSD Administration believes that all K-12 school buildings in the District can re-open for 5-day a week full-day instruction safely beginning on March 15th while maintaining a full-virtual option with live Exeter teachers via ZOOM for those families that do not wish to return to the buildings for the remainder of the school year.  Therefore, there will be a special voting meeting of the School Board on March 2nd to allow this plan to proceed.  (***Update**** The School Board approved the plan to return on March 15th.)  Students who are currently coming into the building will be automatically enrolled for full-days, five days a week.   Families that are currently virtual will be automatically enrolled in virtual for the remainder of the year.  If a family wishes to switch to in-person or to virtual they will need to contact their building principal or guidance counselor to make the change as seamless as possible.  Thank you
