I am aware that information has been circulating around the community about a bus incident that occurred on December 6, 2019. The purpose of this release is first and foremost to assure the community that the safety and well being of your children is and always has been the District’s highest priority. In this situation, an individual was permitted on a bus for a very short period of time under the monitoring of the driver under circumstances that were, in the experience of those who oversee the district’s transportation services, unusual. No child was at risk or harmed in any way. The District has immediately taken steps to make sure something like this never happens again including developing new protocols for all drivers to follow and to make sure that the entity that trains drivers for the District specifically addresses scenarios such as what occurred in this case and instructs drivers on how to respond.
In recognition of the personal and privacy rights of District personnel and students the District does not intend to comment further other than to reiterate that no one was harmed and to state again to the entire community that the safety of your children while on District busses is priority one.
Sincerely, Dr. Robert E. Phillips Superintendent of Schools Exeter Township School District 610-898-9569
