I am the School Counselor for students whose last names begin with M-Z.  This is my 17th year as a School Counselor.  I hold K-12 School Counseling certification in Pennsylvania and have worked in both Pennsylvania and Virginia.  I have a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Relations from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
During your child’s junior high experience, the aim of the School Counseling department is to encourage students’ academic, personal, and social and emotional development. This is accomplished through monitoring students, meeting with students one on one, providing resources to students and families, curriculum and collaboration with all constituents. We want to help students get to know themselves better and increase the skills they need to be successful.

I will meet with each student their first year to assure they are adjusting to the new challenges of junior high. During that time, students will also engage in career exploration activities that are aligned with state standards. This career exploration will continue into eighth grade as students acquire the necessary artifacts to transition to the high school.  They will use a program called Naviance to do so, as well as participate in class projects.

Students in seventh and eighth grade participate in PSSAs.  Some students may participate in Keystones.

I am a member of the Student Assistance Program team, co-founder of the peer mentor program, and I assist with the spelling bee and Reading Olympics.  In my free time, I run half marathons and read.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to hearing from you!
