Thanks for visiting my website! I have provided some information
for you to learn about me and what we will be doing in third grade.
I have also included some helpful websites to visit and pictures of learning
     happening in the classroom.
Hope you enjoy navigating through the site. Please read on...
I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Elementary ED/Early Childhood
and earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Penn State University.
I live in Exeter Township with my husband Sam.
Our son Ross and daughter in law, Jillian live in Emmaus, PA. with their daughter, Camryn Evelyn.
She turned four in May, and I love spending time with her!
Our daughter Samantha and son in law, Matt, live in NYC. It's a great place to visit with so much to do.
When I'm not doing school work, I enjoy reading a good book on the beach,
watching movies and most of all, spending time with my family.

I am thrilled to be teaching third grade at Owatin Creek Elementary School!  I consider
it a privilege to work for the Exeter Township School District. I love teaching third
graders because they are at such an inquisitive age and eager to learn.
Third grade is a year when students will have to take on more responsibility as
    independent learners.
In third grade we use the math series called Investigations.
It is aligned with the Common Core Standards and
includes a lot of hands on learning. It is designed to engage students to be able to use
various strategies and communicate reasoning about mathematical ideas.
In Language Arts, we will be focusing on strategies for Close Reading based
on the works of Beers & Probst, Reading Strategies by Jennifer Seravallo &
Fountas & Pinnell. It will enable students to read texts with a deeper understanding.
We will continue to work with small guided reading groups.  For writing, we will use our
Being A Writer program which uses literature based lessons to help students learn from real writers.
Our students will  learn multiplication, cursive handwriting, FOSS hands on science
investigations as well as all about communities near and far in social studies,

Let's work together to make it a super year!
