Welcome to Third Grade at Owatin Elementary School.
My name is Sandy Groff. I have been a teacher in the Exeter School District for 29 years. I taught First Grade for 15 years before moving to Third Grade. Third Grade has lots of new experiences to explore such as learning multiplication, cursive writing, reading, writing, and taking the PSSA Tests for the first time.
I grew up in Linstead with my three brothers and one sister and graduated from Exeter in 1981.  I went to Lorane, then Jacksonwald for 5th and 6th grade. My parents are Retired Exeter Teachers too. My mom was a Kindergarten Teacher and my dad the Woodshop Teacher at the High School.  My mom volunteers at The Exeter Community Library.
My family consists of my husband, Randy Groff, Brooke, and Trent. My daughter graduated from The University of Maryland. Trent is a sophmore at West Chester University. He is swimming for the West Chester Rams.  Our family enjoys spending time together at the beach, fishing, and watching Trent compete in swim meets.
I am looking forward to a great year working with your child. We have many wonderful learning experiences and activities to explore. Please feel free to contact me with any questions during the year by e-mail, telephone, or sending a note with your child.
This year  I will be working on a new project at Owatin Creek Elementary School and Exeter School District. I will be raising Brook Trout in my classroom from the egg stage to the fingerling stage. We will have a release day celebration in April.
