In the Classroom

I'm very excited to be joining the Exeter team this year as the new art teacher at Owatin Creek Elementary! I taught for six years at the middle and high school level in Massachusetts, where I also received my Masters Degree in Art Education from Fitchburg State University. I came to teaching as a second career after earning my BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design and working as a Graphic Designer for several years. Teaching art is truly my dream job and I love every minute of it! I believe the arts are an integral and powerful component of education for all children. One of the many things I love about visual art is how seamlessly it connects with other content areas and to students own experiences. While creating artwork that is personally meaningful, students will be making connections to ancient civilations and diverse cultures, reinforcing literacy skills, and exploring STEM disciplines.

On a Personal Note...

At home, I have two little artists who keep me busy, a 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son. My husband, Brian, grew up in Wyomissing, which is what brought us back to this area. We also have a Boxer named Ozzie. Together, we like to spend lots of time outside, looking for deer (our new favorite PA passtime!), and of course working on plenty of art projects! Personally I like working in a variety of media, but my favorites are charcoal and pastel drawing, as well as photography.

I plan to update this page with more information as the year gets underway, so please check back in! In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
