How do I know what level of intervention my child is receiving?
Students qualify for reading intervention based on a variety of reading assessments and teacher recommendation. Parents will receive a letter notifying them that their child was placed in an extra reading group and the name of the teacher with whom he or she will work. Students who go to Tier Time are considered to be in "Tier 2 Intervention."
Those students who are significantly below grade level may need additional time with the Reading or Intervention Specialist. In those instances, parents are invited to meet with the specialist and classroom teacher to discuss a course of action to best meet the needs of the student. Those students are placed in "Tier 3 Intervention" groups. These groups take place in addition to the grade level Tier Time groups.
