• Owatin Creek APT Committee Descriptions

     

    Fourth Grade Finale
    The 4th Grade Finale is a graduation celebration with Jacksonwald, Lorane, and Owatin Creek schools.  Responsibilities include representing Owatin Creek during finale planning and scheduling volunteers.
     
    Gingerbread Night
    December's fun family night of Gingerbread House making!  Responsibilities include sending out notices, coordinating volunteers, collecting and sorting candy donations, and purchasing graham crackers & icing.
     
    Holiday Shoppe
    This kid-safe shopping time occurs during the Gingerbread Night.  This is NOT a fundraiser.  Responsibilities include selecting Holiday Shoppe items, sending home flyers, scheduling volunteers, assisting students with their purchases, and planning craft/game tables for when the children are done shopping.
     
    Homecoming
    These Owatin Creek representatives attend planning meetings for Exeter's Homecoming activities which include the parade and bonfire.  Responsibilities include informing the APT about Homecoming activities, planning and constructing the elementary school float, and sending home informational flyers.
     
    Homeroom Parent
    This APT member compiles a list of parent volunteers for each classroom then delivers then list to the classroom teacher.  The teacher assigns one volunteer as the homeroom parent with the additional volunteers to be contacted if the teacher requires parental help in the classroom.
     
    Hospitality
    This committee oversees Owatin Creek hospitality events.  Responsibilities include planning the Kindergarten "Coffee and Kleenex", coordinating teacher luncheons, assisting with the Art Show, and decorating the cafeteria with balloons for Valentine's Day.
     
    May Day
    These volunteers represent Owatin Creek for the community-wide May Day celebration.  Responsibilities include attending planning meetings and scheduling volunteers to work during the event.
     
    Membership/Student Directory
    This committee runs the annual APT membership drive and publishes the APT student directory.  Responsibilities include sending out APT membership/student directory information forms in the beginning of the year, collecting data and membership dues, and producing the student directory.
     
    Newsletter
    The APT newsletter is published monthly - both in print and on the Exeter School District web site - with committee information, upcoming events, articles from Owatin Creek staff, and a monthly calendar of events.  Responsibilities include gathering materials/pictures and publishing the newsletter.
     
    Party and Parade Planners
    This committee plans the Halloween and Valentine's Day parties and the Halloween parades.  Responsibilities include sending home volunteer sign-ups, assigning parents to parties, coordinating the planning teas, and making sure the parties and parades run smoothly.
     
    School Store
    This committee runs the weekly school store for students in grades 1-4.  Responsibilities include sending home notices, scheduling volunteers, and ordering/maintaining inventory.
     
    Campbell Soup Labels/General Mills Box Tops/Redner's Receipts/Giant's A+ Rewards
    These committees coordinate Owatin Creek's involvement with various companies that "give back" to schools.  Responsibilities include sending home informational flyers, collecting labels/box tops/receipts, and mailing items back to the companies.
     
    Fall Fun Day/Bake Sale
    This committee coordinates the annual Fall Fun Day/Bake Sale at Happy Landings.  Responsibilities include sending out notices, scheduling volunteers and planning the day's crafts, games, food, and bake sale.
     
    Family Bingo Night
    This family activity occurs in March and is great fun!  Responsibilities include sending out notices, scheduling volunteers and Bingo callers, and planning food and prizes.
     
    Fundraiser
    Owatin Creek's ONLY fundraiser starts in September with the kick off and ends in October with order pick up.  This very important event funds APT activities and allows us to give back to the school in many different ways.  Responsibilities include planning the kick off, sending order forms home with students, collecting orders, and scheduling volunteers for Curriculum Overview nights, order delivery and order pick up.
     
    Memory Book
    This is Owatin Creek's "yearbook".  Responsibilities include working with the vendor, taking pictures at school events and APT functions, and designing the memory book layout.
     
    Memory Book Sales
    This committee coordinates sales of APT memory books.  This is NOT a fundraising event!  Responsibilities include sending home order forms, collecting orders/money, and delivering the memory books.
     
    Spiritwear
    This committee oversees the fall Spirit Wear Sale of Exeter clothing.  Responsibilities include sending home flyers for the Spirt Wear Sale, scheduling volunteers for the display table during Curriculum Overviews, collecting orders/money, and distributing sold items.
