    EXETER ELEMENTARY BAND PROGRAM

    DIRECTOR:  Ms. Patricia Kline

    Reiffton Beginning Bands (5th grade students)

    Reiffton Advanced Bands (6th grade students)

     

    There are 4 basic componentsto the Reiffton Band Program:

     

    1. GROUP LESSONS

    *Meets once every cycle for 20-30 minutes as a pullout during the school day.

                *ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS 2000 w/ CD & DVD is the method book used.

                *Studentswill have a locker to store their instrument on their lesson day.

     

    1. BAND REHEARSALS

    *Held during EAGLE BLOCK 2X/CYCLE

    *Learning to play within a large group teaches different skills and techniques than just playing your instrument by oneself.

     

    1. HOME PRACTICE

    *Improvement and skill mastery isachieved through consistent Daily Practice

    *Band members are encouraged topractice a MINIMUM of 15-20 minutes a day

    *Performing new songs for friends,family, and neighbors is strongly encouraged!

    *Nothing can replace the advantagesof one on one time of Private lessons.

        Attached is a private teacher list for your use.

    *Weekly assignments will be kept  in a PRACTICE LOG. Parents should check this each week, and ask to hear their child’sprogress.

      

    1. PERFORMANCES

    *Students enrolled in band will perform in a band situation twice during the school year

    *Additional performance opportunities are encouraged in/outside the school environment.

    *We want to nurture the love and appreciation of music through their new instrument!

     

         We have been very fortunate to have such a strong music program at   

    Exeter with the help of parental and community support. 

    Let’s keep that tradition alive.
