I hope that you and your child have enjoyed a rewarding school year and that you are ready for a relaxing summer. At Reiffton School, we have spent over a year planning for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. I want to share with you an exciting new change that will occur at Reiffton in August. Starting next school year, we will move from 35-minute science and social studies classes to a 70-minute block for these subjects. With this change, students will receive a full semester of science and a full semester of social studies. According to the Center for School Success, research has shown that when block scheduling is used “students tend to establish closer relationships with teachers, make greater academic strides, and have fewer discipline problems than students in schools using traditional schedules.” A 70-minute block will give our students more time to work on science labs and hands-on learning activities. It will also allow students additional opportunities to collaborate, conduct research, and develop a more in depth understanding of the subject matter.
We truly look forward to our students beginning a new school year in August. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 610-779-7640. Have a relaxing and enjoyable summer!
