School District 1:1 Initiative
Exeter Township School District is excited to extend the technology one to one (1:1) laptop program for all students attending the Exeter Junior High School and Senior High School for the 2016-2017 school year. Students enrolled in 7th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade for the 16-17 school year will be assigned a new Chromebook laptop. In order for a student to pick up their Chromebook, a parent or guardian must reserve a time slot. Select the link below to view the letter that was sent home with all the necessary information about signing up for a time slot to collect the Chromebook laptop.
These devices will allow Exeter to advance the education of students and build upon the solid education programs that Exeter has been known for. Each student will receive a Chromebook laptop computer to be used in the classroom as well as at home for educational purposes. Teachers will use these devices for instruction and assignments and the Chromebooks will become an embedded part of the classroom environment.
For specific details and more information about the 1:1 program please review the Student 1:1 Handbook located at the bottom of the page. A pdf link is provided to save a copy for offline viewing.
FAQs about the 1:1 distribution
Question: Are both the student and parent/guardian to attend the 1:1 distribution night?
Answer: It would be helpful to have both the parent/guardian and student at pickup, but only the parent/guardian is absolutely necessary.
Question: Do I need to create an account on the Signup Genius website to register?
Answer: No, you do not need to create an account, just choose the night and select the “Submit and Sign Up” button at the bottom of the page. We recommend using the full site compared to the mobile site as it is easier to navigate.
Question: Are there any opportunities to learn about Chromebooks?
Answer: During the distribution of the Chromebook all students and parents will attend a brief training on the Chromebook.
Question: What insurance options are available?
- Option 1: No upfront fee, first time incident responsible for cost of repair up to $50.00, second incident cost of repair up to $100.00, third incident cost of repair or replacement not to exceed $275.00.
- Option 2: Insurance cost of $10.00 per school year with a $0.00 deductible that covers up to two incidents per school year. Additional incidents will be assessed at the value of the repair. If you select Option 2, you will need to pay in cash or check when the Chromebook is delivered.
Question: How and when can I pay for the $10.00 optional insurance for 16-17 school year?
Answer: The insurance will need to be paid the night the Chromebook is received. Only cash or check made payable to “Exeter Township School District” will be accepted. We will not be able to accept a credit card payment.
Question: If I already have a Chromebook, what do I do with it over the summer?
Answer: Any current student returning for the next academic year that already has their Chromebook should keep the Chromebook at home over the summer. If you are experiencing issues with your Chromebook during the summer, you can contact the IT department at 610-779-0700 ext. 8 to arrange a time to drop of the computer for repair. The IT office is located in the Administration Building @ 200 Elm Street.
