Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends of Jacksonwald Elementary: Welcome to Jacksonwald Elementary School. As we begin the start of our second year at Jacksonwald Elementary, things are running smoother all the time. All of us had to make significant changes throughout the year, now those changes have become the norm. As much as we welcome the larger school building, our goal remains to create the closeness and community feeling that was such a redeeming quality of our previous setting. The delivery of the educational component continues to be a challenge as the requirements from the state continue to ramp up. Nevertheless, we will continue to provide your children with the type of positive learning environment that has proven educationally effective for our students. They will continue to be extremely competitive in relation to their peers across the state when it comes to standardized testing and in reaching the goals set forth by the No Child Left Behind legislation. Last year we once again met and surpassed the benchmarks set forth by the state to have more than 80 percent of our third and fourth grade students scoring proficient or advanced in reading, and math. Neverthless, "All work nd no play makes Jack a dull boy". At Jacksonwald, we continually provide fun activities to offset the academic rigor that comes with high expectations. Our students, teachers, and staff alike, look forward to keeping our school a fun place to learn. One reason our students are successful can be directly attributed to the strong parental support they receive in the home. Many of you spend a considerable amount of time doing homework, studying, and/or reading with your children. We thank you and commend your efforts. Jacksonwald Elementary will continue to be fortunate in having a strong parent group and enthusiastic parents who will work to promote a positive learning environment through informative and entertaining assemblies, holiday parties, and many other fun activities. Elementary schools are not successful by accident, and so many people who volunteer in the classroom make a difference in the lives of our students. Our staff is wholeheartedly appreciative of the work these dedicated parents continue to provide, now and in the past, and look forward to continued support with new and former parents. We look forward to the opportunity to educate your child. Please feel free to contact the school office with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We are always looking for ways to improve our instructional delivery and better ways to make our school user friendly and child-centered. Sincerely, Joseph J. Schlaffer, Ed.D. |
